Page Transcript:

Panel 1: Danny approaches Vangel and her mom. Mom backs away cautiously.

Vangel’s Mom: C-can I help you with something, young man?

Panel 2: Danny rants, a frantic look in his eye.

Danny: She did it. I know she did.
She was in the woods, wasn’t she?
I had something. I caught something.
But then I was running.
From the trees. They were laughing at me.

Danny: She hit me. Tripped me.
Like… like it meant nothing.
Like I was made of leaves.

Panel 3: Danny desperate, grabs his head in frustration. Vangel’s Mom reaches into her purse.
Danny: Do trees laugh? They do now. Or they did. Or I did.
I smell leaves every time I try to remember.
I remember forgetting.

Mom: You need to leave! Right now!

I think I used to be real. But now I’m just leftovers. Echoes…

Panel 4: Danny lunging toward them, enraged.
Danny: And she knows why!!
WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME??

Panel 5: Vangel’s Mom tries to mace Danny, but he blocks her arm before she can spray him.

Panel 6: Danny shoves Vangel’s Mom aside.
