Panel 1
Mom and Vangel stand near the front of the house in a tense exchange. Mom looks incredulous; Vangel is defensive but earnest.
Mom: “You knew that boy? That’s not what you told the police!”
Vangel: “The other day at school, Danny, that guy… he had a tree spirit in a cage and I rescued him!”

Panel 2
Vangel gestures emphatically as she continues. Lukas stands nearby, listening with concern.
Vangel: “The Paladins were there and they—”
Mom: “They were at your school??”
Vangel: “They helped! They kept things from getting worse!”

Panel 3
Vangel crosses her arms, and glares at Lukas. Mom stands just behind her, troubled.
Vangel: “The tree spirits wanted revenge and the Paladins kept things from blowing up!”
“You said he was going to forget, though!”

Panel 4
Lukas stands near the doorway, rubbing the back of his neck, trying to explain.
Lukas: “That’s what’s supposed to happen! The veil just makes mundane people forget that they saw anything magical.”
“Maybe imposing two different versions of reality made him snap or something?”
Lukas: “We’re gonna look into it.”
“Owain is following up, but…”
“I’m really sorry you went through that.”

Panel 5
Mom surges forward in anger, pointing sharply toward the exit. Vangel reaches toward her in alarm.
Mom: “Out! Out!! I want you out of my house and away from my daughter!”
Vangel: “Mom! No!!”
Mom (continuing): “No?? They’ve brought nothing but trouble!”

Panel 7
Mom glares intensely, jaw set. Vangel looks stunned beside her.
Vangel: “But it felt right!”
Mom: “What???”
